Madrigal Dinners have been around since the 70’s, and frankly, many of today’s Madrigal Dinner performances haven’t changed much since then–these “dinners” are composed of the same stock ingredients: Early Modern musical standards interspersed with generic bits of holiday-themed dialogue. Maybe a swordfight, or if you’re lucky, true love’s kiss.
Madrigal Mavens are re-inventing the genre: providing dynamic roles that challenge actors, plots that speak to our modern world, and comedy that will slay your audiences.
A Madrigal Mavens show is the perfect blend of historical flavor, familiar (and new!) tunes, and original storytelling. Every show includes:
A full-length theatrical production (90+ minutes) that can be scaled to your unique space & technology needs
A large (but customizable!) diverse cast with roles for every level of acting experience
A provided catalog of period music from the public domain
An appendix full of resources, helpful links, costume/scenic notes, production history, and historical reference documents
